A first post and a little about my intentions.

Much to the chagrin and embarrassment of my daughter, I’ve been convinced to start a blog. Convinced I say as I’ve never had much interest in ‘blogging’ as I’m generally not a particularly opinionated person, nor am I someone who ever wanted to communicate my feeling with other but apparently I should use this as an opportunity to both organise my audiobook reviews but also act as a form of isolation-psychology.
As a 40-something Englishman, most of my life revolves around work and being a father and husband but no-one want's to hear about that facet of my life and so I’ve thought long and hard about what I should write about and I decided upon my 3 favourite things: Books, Games and Transformers.
So this will include the books that have meant a lot to me throughout my life, both for good and bad reasons as well as my more recent ongoing review work, but more on this later.
Games will likely be more of a hodgepodge of news relating to both old and new games as I’ve been a gamer since the 70's and have owned (and in many cases, still own) most of the systems including the current consoles. I’ve also always enjoyed end-of-year top 10 games and so will try to put something like this together also.
Transformers meanwhile will be talk surrounding the toys, shows and comics both of the mainstream Transformers but also the lesser appreciated Gobots of which I am equally a fan. While fast running out of room for new toys I will put reviews of both current and new toys as I obtain them.
Aside from this, I am an avid moviegoer and, while cinemas are like ground-zero these days with the Covid-19 fiasco, I still watch a lot of films and will no doubt be throwing in some mentions and reviews of these also.
This is all new to me and I will no doubt take some time to build up steam but I think I’ll start with some previously reviewed books along with recommendations off the backs of those reviews. With regards to this, I have, over the last 12 months or so, become part of a number of groups where authors provide free copies of their audiobooks in exchange of reviews.
Getting to know a number of authors and narrators has really opened my eyes to just how hard, time consuming but equally rewarding this is for both parties but they always need help getting the readers and recognition to make it monetarily worthwhile and this is the reason for the groups, the more reviews are logged, the more chance the books will get noticed and sales achieved making it a real win/win for all involved.
I’ll list some groups as I go along as, if you’re willing to provide an honest review in exchange for the free book I really can’t recommend it enough as a wonderful way of meeting very interesting people.
Anyway, that’s all for now and I will start working on my first proper review post which will be on my most recent read: Revenant Sun By Eric Danhoff and narrated by Sean Duregger.
